Who are we?

Located in Pecatu, Uluwatu School was established in 2024 by a founding group of parents and educators who live and already contribute to the surrounding community in Uluwatu. They had a need and a passion for a progressive school to serve their own children as well as the growing community. A community with shared values of place and belonging, of joy, discovery and purpose.

Uluwatu School is a progressive school for Indonesian and international students based in the Bukit Peninsula, Bali. We will open for students Grade 1 to Grade 6 in August 2025. In August 2026 we will open for Grade 7 and 8 and will continue to build toward opening an Upper School for Grades 9-12 in the coming years. As our community grows we continue to find ways to contribute to the Uluwatu area, and we aim to be an educational lead in ocean conservation and water research.

The Uluwatu School curriculum is an evolving framework developed specifically to support our community and our mission, ‘to love learning, be curious, make meaningful connections and contribute to the world we live in.’

Our Vision

At Uluwatu School, Connection, Curiosity, Collaboration and Contribution are our guiding aspirations. Our program, pedagogy and activities explore these and bring them to life and are full of joy. Building connection, we make learning relevant and applicable to the real world of now and the future. Nurturing curiosity, our community is aware and shares new possibilities and explorations. Knowing that we are never alone, and to shape our perspectives we seek active collaboration with local experts and global initiatives. In being self aware we understand how we can contribute in meaningful ways, and the responsibilities we have to our community and wider world.

Our Aspirations: The 4C’s

The 4 C’s are our guiding aspirations for our learners. They are the foundations of our learner profiles. These are a critical part of course planning and part of the reflection and assessment protocols.

Contribution

Our community is responsible for our thriving campus environment. We ask all members to be part of our creative, solution-focused approach. Furthermore, we teach children to be ambassadors and supporters of organizations we champion and take initiative in programs that further their mission and work.

Collaboration

We seek to be a beacon of ocean education in Indonesia. We aim to bring educators together across the archipelago. This invitation extends to experts and change makers. We go beyond our campus to cultivate these partnerships and build positive long lasting relationships with organizations.

Connection

Our learning methodologies and curriculum are dynamic and evolving rather than standardized and static. Our learning schedule is not determined only by time but also by place, ensuring learners develop contextual as well as grounded competency.

Curiosity

Curiosity drives our ‘wonder’ and ‘awe’ of the world. It is our way to support, encourage and become actively engaged in finding out the why, what and how. We ask questions wanting to know more. The questions are our starting point for learning adventures and foster confidence and knowledge of frameworks to follow ideas, passions and dreams. We emphasize process over product and celebrate the journey over the destination.
